Denman again

I have just completed (the other small painting) about the size of a CD case for an exhibition/auction at the Cheltenham Festival (Gold Cup) Meeting.  For those of you who are new to my blog: this is the highlight of the year's National Hunt horses, and the atmosphere is incredible, celebrities mingling in the crowds, corporate marquees loaded with londoners having the week off! All sorts of stands selling interesting equine stuff, but most of all it seems the invasion of the Irish jolly everything up when their raiding horses that often sweep the winnings, and of course there is a lot of celebrating and singing when their horse comes into the winners enclosure!

If you love horses, you have to go to this once in your life, it will make you smile.  It is held during the second week of March, with the Gold Cup on the Thursday.  Cheltenham is about 80 miles west of London, and there is direct train from London.

This is Denman again.  I have such admiration for this horse, I think it was that he overcame heart surgery and came back to dominate his opposition at Newbury against all the odds.  The crowd just loved him that day, it was so moving to watch.  The painting is my tribute to this horse. This is him winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
