starting over

Sometimes I look through many of my photos and look again at the subjects in order to portray their characters.  I have never been able to tell these two apart, until doing this tiny study yesterday.  Now I'll go back and take more photos and watch them interact with each other.  A photo however good, is not a good portrait if it is not how they normally appear in their daily lives.  I took an amazing photo of these two, but the owners told me they had never seen them "pose" laying down together.  Based on this information I decided this is not the way I want to paint them either!  I always see them standing, so this little squiggle sketch is me "Starting over!"

I intend to paint a lot of the dogs and cats too, as they are cherished members of the team.  They have a wonderful life, they are so happy.  The green background reminds me of a piece of high glazed antique china plate I have in my collection.  I would so like to create glazes of green/blues in the background.
