Mare and Foal Day19

I lived in Ocala, back in the 1990's and this painting brings back memories of the magnificent horse farms with all the lichen on the trees.   This image came to mind from the lichen on the tree sketch I did yesterday.  I seem to recall 90% of all racehorses are born in Ocala.  Please correct me if I am wrong..that was over 15 years ago.  I remember driving out of the freezing cold of the North East having picked Ocala out of a guide book of Florida which said it had rolling green hills and racehorses.  When I arrived the downtown was all boarded up from the previous recession and I wondered why I had picked such a place!!  I seemed to do that a lot when I was travelling across the USA with my truck of possessions.  I chopped and changed the composition hence this is posted late!  I was also trying to focus on intensity of color on the bay mare.  One of these days I'll get back there again.
