The best week of the year in National Hunt Racing...I wish I could be there. But I was thrilled to know that one of my paintings has actually sold prior to the Secret Exhibition even opening at Cheltenham! I will be producing a series of small paintings as I found them playful and colorful.
Back to racing...I had a look at the cards, happy to see Sprinter Sacre run his race, and my choice today Alfie Sherin came home at 14-1. Cheltenham does spring some surprises and there is an eachway horse I keep looking at in the next race Champion Hurdle called Brampour, it is a wild card, up against the amazing Hurricane Fly and Binocular. Its certainly well bred by Daylami, and has been placed in Cheltenham before, but technically given no chance. Overturn is another long shot. I'll be watching the replays to see how well they come home. And then there's Celestial Halo....why is that horse 50-1? Its awesome too. This is why Cheltenham Festival is so fantastically competitive. All the greats come together in this race at even weights...so the best horse proves himself.
I'll be painting later today and try to post!
Ok Rock on Ruby did a great job...but Overturn ran a cracker!! at 20-1. So one longshot out of two wasn't bad. I did think Hurricane Fly would win, but a great result for the bookies, they'll be smiling, and Binocular not doing much either. However they'll be on better form at Aintree, I'd be looking at them to win there! I do like outsiders.
