I think the caption was "She loves that pony..she's never out of the saddle..."
Luckily I never had far to fall, but he was actually a very kind pony, he just loved escaping. I remember one day he escaped from his field and was reported at the local pub. He then charged off when the local boys were called out, and turned up at my grandfathers cottage in the village. He looked out of his window and saw the pony with his head over the gate waiting for carrots, and then two men chasing him calling to one another "found the bugger".. makes me smile.
Norman Thelwell was famous for his depiction of little girls and their naughty ponies. But he drew all sorts of images that are very funny..hunting, fishing, golf..gardening..etc. Do take a look if you get a chance.
this is one of my favourites...just had to add it...the pony has stolen the carrots from the flower and vegetable tent!
