My Blog Header Painting

"Study of a Standardbred" oil on panel
I have put a "Study of a Standardbred" as the Header of my blog to start with, as it will be a guide to my improvement for all to see.  I painted this during April/May 2011 the closing weeks of the Winter Training.  I really like this work...as I have succeeded in capturing the spirit of the horse.  Your eye is drawn to a living animal..look at her kind eye.  I have decided to edit this post as I want to change the home page photo every so often, just to be a bit more interesting...

Introduction to my blog

Just come up with this idea! New to blogging so  apologies to all who see this...hope I can figure out how to post the daily results by December!

I intend to paint a standardbred racehorse painting every day during December just like an advent calendar!  However, I think I'll carry on until January 1st given its the official birthday of all racehorses.   This will be an exciting challenge for me...

I do hope you will follow my blog, I think the norm for me would be for a new work to be posted every week....until I figure out how this blog works or if I'm working on commissions!  I may side track a little, as I'm discovering more about me. I may use my History of Art Masters to help describe my work, as different artists do come into my head, as do techniques they used from time to time. I'll try not to ramble too much, once I start painting.  My energy will be focused on painting.

So much equine art captures the photographic image brilliantly, yet the horses spirit is not there. I don't want to do this, I don't copy images onto canvas, I'm not only trying to capture the spirit of the horse but create a painting with my "self" in each work, especially for those of you who see me out there.

The Mantra for my work is "WHERE IS SARAH" and this is what I hope you will comment on, in order to help me discover myself! This blog will be a journey for my painting ability and hopefully I will not only develop technically, but emotionally too... This is true art and what makes a painting really successful or not...
